This study aims to explore the transformative impact of cyber-physical systems (CPS) on manufacturing operations, focusing on their influence on operational efficiency, workforce dynamics, challenges, and future opportunities. This qualitative research utilized semi-structured interviews conducted with 25 participants who are experts in manufacturing and digital transformation. The participants were selected using purposive sampling, and interviews were conducted online to enhance accessibility. Data collection continued until theoretical saturation was achieved, and NVivo software was used for thematic analysis. Themes were identified to understand the multifaceted impact of CPS in manufacturing. The results indicate that CPS enhances operational efficiency through automation benefits, real-time monitoring, resource optimization, quality control improvements, and reduced downtime. Workforce dynamics are reshaped, requiring new skill sets, transforming job roles, and fostering human-technology collaboration, although resistance to change was identified as a significant barrier. Challenges in CPS adoption include high implementation costs, technical complexity, data security issues, and regulatory compliance. However, participants expressed optimism about future opportunities, such as smart factory development, predictive maintenance, supply chain integration, and sustainability initiatives supported by AI and machine learning advancements. CPS integration in manufacturing is a pivotal element of Industry 4.0, offering substantial benefits in efficiency, adaptability, and sustainability. However, its adoption presents challenges that must be addressed through strategic investments, workforce training, and robust cybersecurity measures. Future research should focus on quantitative validation, cross-industry comparisons, and long-term impacts to guide successful CPS implementation.
