Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of digital transformation on organizational hierarchies, leadership structures, decision-making processes, and collaborative dynamics within modern organizations. A qualitative research design was employed, utilizing semi-structured interviews as the primary method of data collection. A total of 39 participants from diverse industries were selected through purposive sampling, all of whom were actively involved in or leading digital transformation initiatives within their organizations. The interviews were conducted online, and the data was analyzed using NVivo software for thematic analysis. Theoretical saturation was achieved during the interview process, ensuring the comprehensive capture of relevant themes. The results revealed that digital transformation has led to a flattening of organizational hierarchies, with a shift towards decentralized decision-making and collaborative governance. New leadership roles, such as Chief Digital Officers, were identified as pivotal in guiding digital strategies. Data-driven decision-making and the increased use of cross-functional teams were also prominent findings, as organizations increasingly rely on digital tools for efficiency. However, challenges related to resistance to change, unclear leadership roles, and information overload were highlighted. Furthermore, virtual collaboration tools, though beneficial, have introduced challenges such as digital fatigue and a loss of personal interactions among team members. Digital transformation has significantly reshaped leadership structures, decision-making, and collaboration in organizations, fostering agility and innovation. However, it also presents challenges, including the need for new competencies and the ethical implications of technology-driven decisions. Organizations must invest in leadership development, ethical frameworks, and digital skills training to fully capitalize on the benefits of digital transformation.
